Huey Mack Reps CC

If you saw him walking down the street, you’d probably assume he was your stereotypical frat boy based out of West Virginia. Despite what you may think, Huey Mack has been dropping some of the dopest tracks to ever come out of that region. With hits such as “About Us” and featuring in Mike Stud’s “Back Again”, Huey Mack has been making his mark within the college rap game.

Even at the age of 18, Mack has already had three mixtapes break the 25K download mark (one of which broke 100K). His easy-going flows blend perfectly with his fratstar demeanor, making it easy to see why his songs and beats a regular in party playlists. While you will generally see Huey Mack repping his home state, this did not stop him from tipping the California Crown hard on numerous occasions.

During the collaborative process, we were pumped off seeing Huey rock some gear in his tour pictures, but what we got in the end was way beyond our expectations. In Mack and Mike Stud’s music video titled “Like That”, it is clear that Huey knows how to represent California Crown. With Mack on the rise, and with tour dates through California set, we know that big things are heading his way. Make sure to peep his work, and definitely keep tabs on this young but talented lyricist who is climbing to the top. Miriam and Olivia Nervo are natives of Melbourne, Australia and began their illustrious careers as models in their home country. During their late teenage years, the twins decided to follow their true passion in life: music. Nervo, also known as The Nervo Twins are credited with writing hit tracks for such artists as Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue, and the Pussycat Dolls, and are co-writers of the Grammy Award-winning single, “When Love Takes Over”, performed by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland.

Breaking out of the European market, the twins tackled their own brand of music by offering the growing US Electronic demographic with mega hits such as “You’re Gonna Love Again” and We’re All No One ft. Afrojack & Steve Aoki (who are regarded as icons in the Electronic Music industry). Working closely with artists such as Avicii, NERVO is well on their way to the number one spot.

Being fans of their music in college, it was a monumental feat for us to be featured in NERVO & Hook ‘N’ Sling’s hit single “Reason”. California Crown’s “Grizzy Tee” and “Stars Tee” can be scene throughout the music video.  Their music has flooded night clubs, radio stations, and YouTube, and it is only a matter of time before they occupy the top of every Electronic and Pop chart. After gracing the cover of XXL as one of the 2012 Freshmen of the year, Kid Ink dropped Up & Away and saw a great deal of success. With singles like “Time Of Your Life”, “Hell and Back”, and “Lost in the Sauce”, Up & Away broke into the scene on several hip-hop charts (debuting at number 20 on Billboard 200, and number 5 on iTunes), all while amassing over 20,000 sales within the first week.

With this laundry list of accomplishments, and being born and raised in the Golden State, when California Crown’s teal Emblem Snapback was being rocked in the Kid Ink’s YouTube mini series, “A Day in the Life with Kid Ink”, we knew we had hit a milestone. Not only do we love his music, but also his style and way of living is truly an example of making it to the #BestLife (and we don’t see him leaving anytime soon).

Fresh AER Movement

If you haven’t heard about AER or their Fresh AER Movement, you will soon. With tracks like “Feel I Bring” reaching a million plus hits on Youtube, David Von Mering and Carter Schultz are proving that their mellow blend of reggae and hip-hop is not only a viral internet sensation, but a true force within the music industry.

“What You Need”

Their EP “What You Need,” rose to the #1 album on the iTunes hip-hop charts, and also made it in the top ten on the iTunes overall album charts. With their undeniable presence, and unquestionably dope beats/riffs over mellow feel-good songs, when we found out that collaborating with this group was a possibility, we were beyond thrilled.

Although both members of AER are from the East Coast, they embody numerous qualities that we strive for here at California Crown. With the combination of their upbeat music and personas, AER exudes what the Best Life is all about. With their drive and passion for what they love, it is clear that Von Mering and Schultz will one day be at the top of the list. Start taking tabs on them people! These guys are going big places.

Doing business in the Kitchen

Charlie Fyffe, also known as Chef C., is the Founder and Executive Pastry Chef for Charlie’s Brownies, a gourmet desserts catering company in Los Angeles, CA. We met him while he was a student at UC Berkeley in the Bay Area, where he launched the business by selling his brownies to the coffee shops on campus. Without a business or culinary degree, Charlie originally started with nothing but a simple Facebook page and a small kitchen.

Over the past few years since graduating from Cal, Charlie has secured over $10,000 in startup capital, successfully launched CharliesBrownies.com, and has catered many celebrity events in Hollywood. The menu has also expanded from the original four flavors to now offering 8 flavors, all of which are also available in gluten-free.

Aside from working on Charlie’s Brownies, Charlie has used his entrepreneurial talents to help others accomplish their dreams well. In 2010, Charlie helped to develop Artistic Grassroots Latter (AGL), a positive lifestyle clothing brand.  The message behind AGL is “Follow Your Passion & Success Will Follow You.”  He has also spent considerable time giving back to the community through youth motivational speaking on leadership, education, and the importance of financial literacy & entrepreneurship. Charlie has been featured as a guest speaker at the Tupac Shakur Arts & Leadership Camp in LA and the K!dult Youth Leadership Conference in NY put on by Pharrell Williams.

Austin put together his talented group during his stay in Santa Clara. As a singer/songwriter, Austin always had a knack for musical exploration, however needed a supporting cast to bring his dreams to reality. After posting flyers around campus he acquired Owen Watson (Bassist) and Ian Brown to play drums. Quinn Peck came on to the scene as the lead guitarist forming what is now, Austin & The Pigeons.

“Our music is rooted in reggae, with strong influences from the blues, jam bands, hip-hop, and, more recently, bluegrass. We moved from a strictly acoustic singer/songwriter style to a more electric, upbeat sound, trying to pick the energy up for our live shows”.

The band finds joy in performing live and feeding off the crowd. The fusion of songwriting, mastering the instrument, collaborating as a band, connecting with the fans, and most importantly, improvising is what drives this Californian native group.

“Austin & the Pigeons” currently is in collaboration with California Crown Clothing Company and promotes our products on tours and live events. The other day we hit up the Mission District in beautiful San Francisco to check out the unveiling of a mural dedicated to Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, and Vernon Davis. With the 49ers dominating the regular season and showing no signs of slowing down in the playoffs, we wanted to show our love and support for a few of our hometown heroes. Not only did we get to meet one of our idols,Vernon Davis, but we also got a chance to toss some gear his way. While this was truly a great day for Niner Nation and the residents of the Mission district, it was a huge day for California Crown Clothing Company. Check out the youtube video, and take a close look at 2:30. Jurrell Casey is a proud product of California who has paved an impressive path on his way to the NFL, beginning back at his day’s at Southern California’s Long Beach Polytechnic High School.  As a senior defensive tackle for Long Beach Poly, Casey racked up 134 tackles, seven sacks, and two fumble recoveries to help the Jackrabbits bring home the CIF Pac-5 Division Championship.  His efforts earned him several prestigious awards at the high school level, including the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year, EA Sports All-American, All-CIF Pac-5 Defensive MVP, and many more.

Jurrell Casey continued making friends and family proud when he attended  the University of Southern California, where he had an immediate impact on the Trojans’ already stellar defense.  In just three seasons at USC, Casey tallied 138 tackles, nine sacks, 22 tackles for loss, and even an interception.  His tenacity and relentlessness on the field led him to being named to the All-Pac 10 first team as well as USC’s team MVP in his final season, immortalizing himself as one of the best defensive linemen the storied university has ever had. Jurrell Casey was drafted 77th overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2011 NFL Draft and is now emerging as one of the elite defensive rookies in the NFL today.  The 6‘1 300-pound Casey added size and strength to Tennessee’s front four, providing great run-defense for the Titans, who are in the race to win the AFC South for the first time in 4 years.
